MFA Financial Trade (MFA) with Bookmap View

I made another good trade today … MFA is not hard to borrow, IB has millions of shares available to borrow, but the stock has been unusually active of late and was my number one Unusual Suspect. It did nearly half a million trades today, which is impressive. Check out the video below… I still have no sound (will get a new mic soon), but I’ve inserted some comments. The tape runs at 64x fast forward, so you can watch the entire trading day in around seven minutes. Speed it up further by watching at 2x on YouTube. Make sure you set the video quality to 1080p HD so it’s clear.

Check out my trade in Astrotech (ASTC) if you didn’t already see it.

Astrotech Trade (ASTC) with Bookmap View

I made a good trade in the HTB (hard-to-borrow) du jour, Astrotech (ASTC), today. Borrow cost was 3.33 cents a share ($333 per 10,000 shares) … this is how I view Bookmap … basically it’s one-minute candles overlaid on the order book heatmap.

Make the video full screen and make sure you have 1080p HD quality playback. You should watch it at 2x fast forward, and pause it where you like. There is no sound. This is the first time I’ve made one of these, so I should get better if I make more in future.

100 minute running time … interesting for historical reasons, detailing the blackmail that resulted from the anti-homosexual laws in England at the time … a John Farr recommendation … it wasn’t terrible but I also wasn’t thrilled with it, and it certainly doesn’t make my Top 500 list.

Mistreatment of Detainees

“Abuse of detainees in Afghanistan included being stripped, kicked and punched, sleep deprivation, sensory deprivation, and being forced to endure the films of Jean-Luc Godard, according to Human Rights Watch.”

103 minute running time but I wisely abandoned this at the 10 minute mark … sweet Jesus, this was a pile of shit … sure, Brigitte Bardot has an outstanding ass, but holy crap this was terrible. Jean-Luc Godard, what a pretentious prick. John Farr steered me wrong here (“In the hands of New Wave master-bater Godard…“), but you don’t have to make the same mistake that I did and waste a rental on this. And poor old Fritz Lang roped into appearing, sheesh. Full red, avoid.

Movies Watched -- Salesman (1969)

90 minute running time so the perfect length. I loved this one! It’s a sort-of documentary from 1969 made by a pair of Jewish brothers who followed a group of Irish-Catholic door-to-door bible salesmen doing their thing … it’s fascinating, hilarious, tragic, and deeply depressing all at once. Great recommendation from John Farr since I’d never even heard of it. Green-go!

133 minute running time, so way way way too long … I abandoned this at the one hour mark and should have quit sooner … Marion Morrison with his weird way of talking and walking … pretty boy Montgomery Clift may explain why John Farr recommended this, but I hated this one … dumb violence, fake Injun attacks, phony father-son psycho-drama, it just sucked. Total avoid.
