I'm Stuck Under Your Thumb

I like a couple songs from these sisters, Lily & Madeleine, including this one, Back to the River:

May 1, 2014 - Indianapolis-based sisters Lily & Madeleine perform "Back to the River" live at The Red Room @ Café 939 at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. Supporting them on tour is the mult-talented, multi-instrumentalist, Shannon Hayden.

Recommended by my buddy at uglychart.com, but I wasn't thrilled. Fast forwarded after 20 minutes ... has the hot girl from Banshee in it (a fomer Ford model) ... two hours and 13 minutes means at least 35 to 45 minutes too long ... too talky at first (and throughout), story wasn't well-paced and was too contrived ... Kurt Russell looks pretty good for a 64-year old ... Indian savages absurd and offensive (and I'm not a PC guy, as my dozen readers know) ... gross-out horror porn in the end. Red rating, avoid.

Steven Rea got it right: "There's a difference between velocity and momentum, and while the chases, shootouts and close quarters combat rarely flag, our interest does."

Stopped after 30 minutes ... story didn't grab me or make any sense ... hate the constant, heavy musical dramatic cues from Lalo Schifrin ... hate the pandering to China with token Chinese actress (who doesn't speak) ... hate the BMW product placements ... it's a shame because I like Tom Cruise, he's talented and normally fun to watch ... really hate that it's 2 hours and 11 minutes long, which means at least 30 to 40 minutes too long. Red rating, avoid.

Kyle Smith got it right: "it has neither the wit of the best Bond films nor the grit of any of the Bourne ones."
