Gilead Sciences Short Entries

Added on by C. Maoxian.

Gilead Sciences was my trading idea for Monday.  Got quite a few replies on StockTwits from GILD bulls on this one ... guys, it's just a trade, I don't care about the company ... they could make dog food, it's just a ticker symbol to me, capisce?

You had to wait till lunchtime for an "obvious" entry point. Day traders can manage risk off the intraday chart which is something the dentist traders can't do. It's possible to be at breakeven already with this one, though you may want to give it a little more space since the target is way down there.

Gilead Sciences Back to $86

Added on by C. Maoxian.

This stock got hit before Christmas on some news about a deal with Express Scripts ... after going sideways since last August.  Recent up move may be a nice spot to put on a short if it breaks below $101.75.  Keep an eye on it.

Movies Watched -- 12 O'Clock Boys

Added on by C. Maoxian.

I'm watching the top 100 movies of 2014 (according to Rotten Tomatoes) so you don't have to.

First up was 12 O'Clock Boys, a documentary about ghetto kids in Baltimore who ride dirt bikes on the city's streets every Sunday in a pack.  The movie was only 75 minutes long, which was good.  I'd be totally unaware of ghetto life in Baltimore if it weren't for the Wire -- I've seen every episode, and recommend you do the same.

This movie confirms how hopeless and awful things are for these poor, black people. I kept thinking about the rule that when you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging; these people don't, for the most part. The dirt bike riding serves as a release for them, but it's dangerous and innocent bystanders occasionally get hurt and killed. Anyway, I didn't fast forward it so it earns a yellow rating (green = go, yellow = consider, red = stop).

Dragonvale -- Leaf Dragon

Light + Seaweed ... took many, many tries.  Since the bring 'em back campaign began, I got a Victory dragon and bought a Kite dragon with saved up gems, and now with the Leaf dragon's arrival I only have one dragon left to go (the impossible Ovalith, which is Bloom + Panlong).  I'm not counting the newly released Snowflake dragons in the total.  It's good to have a purpose in life.

Business Insider Crashes TweetBot Reader

Whenever I click on a Business Insider post in TweetBot, the TweetBot reader crashes. Wonder which thing running in the background is responsible for this?  (click image to enlarge)

Louie -- S04 E01 to E14

Added on by C. Maoxian.

Discovered on the airplane that season four of Louie had been released.  I count on Twitter to notify me of when good TV is on, but somehow it failed me last summer when S04 apparently came out. I loved the first and second season of Louie, feared for it a bit with season three, but season four wasn't bad.

If you're not familiar with the show, it's a half hour of semi-disjointed comedy sketches, some of them wonderfully bizarre. I don't think the show plays well in the Heartland, but appeals to coastal elites, esp. fat middle-aged bald white men with goatees and small children.

Apple Back to $120

Added on by C. Maoxian.

Sorry for the paucity of posts, been jetlagged after our return from the holidays.

Seeing this bullish pattern across a lot of things including Intel, Texas Instruments, Taiwan Semi., and Micron -- look at all those charts if you have time. Anyway, Apple has its fans so I thought I'd feature it.  I'm seeing lots of iPhone 6s and especially 6+s in the hands of my Chinese colleagues and elevator co-riders.  I continue to use my $27 robin's egg blue Nokia 1050 happily.

Incidentally, I'm still bearish on Twitter and expect it to get under $35 even with these bullish tech stock patterns.

Update on Twitter Short

Added on by C. Maoxian.

I pointed out the set-up in Twitter before Christmas, and there was a good spot to get short late in the day on Friday (that's a 5-min. chart below).  Hope some of you caught it.  If it gets to $35 I'll crow about it; if it reverses and races to $40 I'll never mention it again.
