New Chat Time: 8:30 to 9:00

Because the chat hour conflicts with baby T's bath time (he bathes at 9 PM sharp every night... this is the the key skin-on-skin routine each day where I hug naked baby and he gleefully rips out my chest hair), I'm cutting my time in the chat to half an hour. I hope we can have a focused discussion during that brief time on things that matter: yesterday we concentrated on Kate Bosworth.

Disturbing Developments in China

What you'll notice when you come to China is that there are a helluva lot of baby boys and not many baby girls. The boy is raised by his grandparents (mainly), which means that they're usually spoiled rotten (Little Emperors). Working parents feel guilty about not being around to raise the kid, so they do what all crummy parents do: shower him with gifts (instead of with time and love).

The little monster is allowed to eat junk food (KFC does a great business here) and play violent video games to his heart's content. Oh, and the kids don't just eat their Happy Meals, they demand to be fed them. I've also heard reports that there are teenage boys who still have their asses wiped for them.
