Early movers this morning:

In the Bonus Material of Kill Bill Vol. 2's DVD, there's a very hot live performance of Malaguena Salerosa by Chingon. Check it out if you get the chance. (I don't quite know the difference between Chingon and Del Castillo.) Posted at 13:50, GMT
A look at GOOG's daily chart showing the recent Dummy entries. Every trader out there knows what's hot and what's not... that's why we've all been on top of the Energy stocks (APC, BHI, MRO, NBL, RIG, SLB, SUN, UCL, XLE, etc.) lo these many months. GOOG is one of the few tech stocks that merits attention.

The coil scanner picked up COST. Costco has gone, well, more or less nowhere for the last five years. In any event, watch for a break out of this tiny range contraction.

Killer Debate Ahead, by Bill Buckley:
"Kerry was called the 'second-best' debater he handled by the distinguished and revered Yale debate coach, Rollin Osterweis.
The best, said Osterweis, was William F. Buckley."
Best or most insufferable?

Billionaire George Soros intensifies his anti-Bush campaign:
"This is the most important election of my lifetime. I have never been heavily involved in partisan politics but these are not normal
times. President Bush is endangering our safety, hurting our vital interests and undermining American values."

You should ignore the Gallup Poll; nevertheless Bush is bid 64.6 x 66 offer. Posted at 8:25, GMT
Slack-Jawed Cretins Watch "The O'Reilly Factor" (Rupert Murdoch didn't get rich by appealing to the Highest Common Denominator.) Posted at 8:15, GMT
Schwab Research Reveals Trading and Holding Differences Among Age Groups (Press Release)
"For the first time in the report's history, Schwab broke out the
investment behavior and trading patterns among SDBA [self-directed brokerage] account holders in various
age groups."
That's a very fascinating table to look at (well, fascinating for some of us)... look at the levels of Cash & Equivalents held across the board! It looks like a lot of folks are hesitant about putting cash to work and are content to earn negative returns for the time being. No doubt they're waiting for prices to rise before they feel "safe" about going back into the market. ;-) Posted at 8:00, GMT
Why Are Oil Prices So High? (A kind of "Oil Prices for Dummies" article.) Posted at 7:55, GMT
Ameritrade, Bloomberg Unit Criticize NYSE 'Hybrid' Plan, by Gaston Ceron:
"The NYSE proposal should provide for truly automated trading 100% of the time ... there is a lack of specificity concerning the
automation; for example, how long will it take for an immediate or cancel notification to be sent back to the firm or market
center routing the order?"

I've started to use Bloglines after Tom from Sixth World recommended it to me. It's a very slick "integrated service for searching, subscribing, publishing and sharing news feeds, blogs, and rich Web content." I've added a button over in the sidebar in case you want use Bloglines to subscribe to some poor Web content: mine. ;-) Posted at 7:25, GMT
You can find yesterday's Unusual Suspects on the Unusual Suspects page. TZOO finally cracked... too bad I couldn't short it (despite checking for availability daily). TZOO has an $869 million market cap, so there's still a bit of room on the downside, lol.
