Confucius say: "Onry idiot spell my name, 'Confucious.'" Posted at 21:25, GMT
NSTK was the #1 Early Mover this morning and it's also the #1 Unusual Suspect at the End of Day (and it's still going strong after-hours). It gave a fine "Dummy" entry with only around 36 cents of initial risk, but the tone was very poor today so I wasn't looking to get long anything. Nevertheless, it's a good idea to drop by the site around 9:15 ET every morning to look over the stocks I've identified as Early Movers... they're stocks that most day traders know about, but not the popular press. See you tomorrow, guys.

Here's an update for Centurytel (CTL), today's coil pick. You can see how it broke out around 11 AM, and gave a nice spot above $33.84 to get long with only about eight cents of initial risk. The very skittish would already have a breakeven stop in it. Next month when I plan to start the subscription portion of the site, the set-ups that I'll feature will be much more sophisticated than these simple range contraction patterns. I plan to detail where I will enter, place my stop loss, the target prices I'm looking for, etc. It's gonna be good, but it ain't gonna be free no more.

Early movers this morning:

"[CNOOC is] a Hong Kong-incorporated public company that engages primarily in the exploration, development and production of
crude oil and natural gas offshore China. We are the dominant producer of crude oil and natural gas and the only company
permitted to conduct exploration and production activities with international oil and gas companies offshore China."
![]() CNOOC, Monthly Chart Once I launch my "new" semi-commercial website in October, I'll be posting more about the Red Chips and H-Shares listed in Hongkong. (I hope to get a couple hundred subscribers for my Hongkong-listed stock trade set-ups... and don't get me started on the demand for my Mainland China-listed stock trade set-ups... and Taiwan? Fuggedaboutit.) Posted at 11:15, GMT
The coil scanner picked up CTL. Keep an eye on Centurytel to see how it breaks out of this range contraction.

Bill McCartha played a song this morning called "Brother from Another Mother," which I liked. I thought it was Phish, but no, it was from a CD called Carbohydrates by a band called RAQ (out of Burlington, Vermont). Check them out. Posted at 8:05, GMT
Archipelago's Rich Sea of Possibilities, by Amy Tsao:
"In 2001, [Archipelago] became the first ECN to get clearance from U.S. regulators to be its own stock exchange.
Its ArcaEx exchange doesn't have a trading floor, but like other exchanges, it gets to set its own rules. As an
exchange, rather than simply an electronic middleman, Archipelago figures it will have more say over how it does
business, differentiating itself from other trading platforms."

You can see that the VTI put in a reversal bar last week at yet another "lower high." If price falls below $101.90, it will put in yet another "lower low." If that happens then sentiment will probably get bearish enough for me to put more money to work, which I'm looking forward to doing.

A look at the Canadian Dollar as it approaches old highs... if you recall, Fuzzy exited the very long-lived CD position last April below .7323. Fuzzy then bought back in above .7405 in June and is still holding long here. Were we whipsawed? Sure, that's the life of the long-term trend follower.

I apologize for neglecting to post the Gratuitous Cute Chick Pic last Friday; I simply forgot. Judging by the amount of angry email I got, I should quit writing about the markets and focus solely on putting up pics of cute chicks. Posted at 7:25, GMT
