The trend is still clearly up in Crude Oil... all longer term trend followers (weekly, monthly, etc.) remain long despite the widespread "chatter" that $30 a barrel crude is imminent. The Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE) and Oil Service HOLDR (OIH) have both moved to new multi-year highs today. When we were in the States recently I said to the wife, "Given the high price of gas, did you notice how few SUVs there are on the roads?" She said, "Yeah, except for that one and that one and that one and that one...." ;-)

The coil scanner picked up UTX again. United Technologies coiled tighter yesterday, so keep an eye on it.

The ten most active ETFs of late. (It's interesting to watch how this list changes over time, as things fall in and out of favor.)

Grand jury indicts Douglas Co. broker, by John Accola:
"Cade Emerson Lee... faces 19 counts of securities fraud and theft in connection with an alleged $3 million
day-trading scheme involving more than two dozen Colorado investors. Investigators said it appears the
former Paine Webber stockbroker acted alone, touting himself to clients as a 'hot' Wall Street insider while
failing to disclose his mounting losses in stock trades between October 2000 and November 2002. Lee, who
filed for bankruptcy in February 2003 with $4 million in debt, borrowed most of that money from individual
investors, promising annual interest rates of 30 percent or more...."
Pay attention to the dates... a near perfect correlation with market highs and lows. If Lee had been operating between October 1998 and November 2000 instead, he probably would have been seen as a day trading genius, not a scheming criminal. Posted at 8:13, GMT
