Consumer Expenditure Survey -- May 2004

We were traveling in early May so the Canadian dollar, US dollar, and UK pound expenses are all mingled. I'm still using 1.6 as my pound to dollar conversion rate (for consistency) even though the pound hasn't seen that level since last September.

Our pound expenses would be about 14% higher in dollar-terms if I converted them at current exchange rates. For example our rent would be $2091.45 at current exchange rates instead of the $1837.33 figure, which is calculated using the constant 1.6 rate. Fortunately we are able to match our pound expenses with pound revenue, so exchange rate fluctuations don't matter.
