(Excerpt from the Notes, Enron 2000 Annual Report, p.48)
I read annual reports almost every day. I read Enron's today and it was a real pain. You can tell a lot about a company by its annual report: is it full of fluff and buzzwords, or is it clear and straightforward? (Enron's was convoluted to say the least (see above.)) It pays to stick with companies that are straight shooters. Wish I had bothered to read the annual reports of all my (now penny stock) dot com holdings... probably would have saved me a couple of bucks. |
